I recently came across a British based brand via Instagram and got chatting with founder Amy at Gypsy Spirit about this exact topic and she advised I watch the documentary fashions dirty little secrets with Stacey Dooley.
Stacey Dooley travels the world to uncover the hidden costs of the addiction to fast fashion. She see’s first hand how toxic chemicals are being released by garment industries into the waterways that millions of people rely on. She also visits a former, yes former sea (the Aral Sea) once one of the largest bodies of fresh water, now reduced to almost entirely dust. The cotton farms that surround this area have drawn almost all of the water out of this once idyllic holiday destination and now there are camels where there once were fish.

It really got me thinking. I love fashion and with the rise of social media and being somewhat in the spotlight with my own online business I like to keep up to date with the trends and feel a little pressure to hit a certain standard of ‘cool’.
Well now I have a whole new perspective. Yes I still want to look good but the way I shop and where I shop from will be changing going forward. I am on the hunt for more ethical, British brands to support and or collaborate with. I am looking for clothing that has longevity and has a classic look I can style any way.
I am so grateful I came across Gypsy Spirit and Amy was able to educate me on their mission and brand and I am pleased to announce I am now a brand ambassador for them.

I would love to hear your feedback on the documentary and how it will impact your shopping habits going forward.
